Categories Guide

Categories let you organize feedback by type — Bug, Feature Request, UI/UX, Billing, or anything else that fits your workflow. Available on Builder and Studio.

⚡ Essentials

  • Create/manage: Project page → Categories → Manage Categories
  • Assign: open a feedback item and pick one or more categories (or assign in batch)
  • Let users pick: enable the category selector in Widget Customization
  • Filter: use the category filter on the feedback list
  • Analyze: see the “Feedback by category” breakdown in Analytics

Creating & Managing Categories

Categories are managed per project:

  1. Go to your project page
  2. Open the Categories section → Manage Categories
  3. Click Create Category and set:
    • Name (1–50 characters, unique within the project)
    • Color (choose from 10 presets)
    • Description (optional, up to 200 characters)

From the same screen you can edit or delete categories.

Limits:

  • Up to 50 categories per project
  • A feedback item can have up to 10 categories

Note: A category that is currently assigned to feedback can’t be deleted until you reassign or remove that feedback first.

Assigning Categories to Feedback

Individually

  1. Open a feedback item
  2. Select one or more categories
  3. Changes save automatically

A feedback item can belong to multiple categories at once (for example, both Bug and Checkout).

In Batch

  1. On the feedback list, enable batch selection (checkbox icon)
  2. Select the feedback items
  3. Choose the batch category action and apply categories to all selected items at once

Letting Users Choose a Category

You can let people pick a category themselves when they submit feedback through the widget.

  1. Go to your project page → Widget Customization
  2. Enable the category selector
  3. Your project’s categories become selectable options in the widget

When enabled, the widget fetches the project’s categories and shows them in the feedback form, so reports arrive pre-categorized.

Filtering by Category

On the feedback list, use the category filter to narrow the view to one or more categories. Combine it with the status, project, date-range, and search filters to drill in — for example, all NEW items in category Bug from the last 7 days.

Category Analytics

The Analytics Dashboard includes a Feedback by category breakdown, showing how your reports are distributed across categories. Use it to spot where most issues cluster (e.g. a spike in Bug reports after a release).
